With the increase in home offices, personal home theaters, voice assistants and smart home technology, people are starting to expect more from their home than basic applicances and 4 walls. Centralized Lighting

Our smart lighting allows for “scenes” to be customized to your liking. Scenes integrate lighting with other systems in your home to respond with a predetermined series of events that happen simultaneously. Perhaps you want a “Cooking” scene that will start your favorite playlist and bring your lights up to full illumination, or a “Goodnight” scene that will turn off all the lights in your home, lock the doors, arm the security system and cue up your bedtime playlist.

By integrating with all the other devices in your home, smart lighting gives you complete control over every aspect of your home and allows your lighting to match your mood and desires. Set scenes for when you’re relaxing, entertaining or even just coming home from work. Complete control of your home is always just a button press away.

We take lighting for granted because it’s so ubiquitous. Most homes have overhead lights as well as task lighting in specific areas. Add in exterior lights, some of which are activated by motion controls or light sensors, and just about every room in your house is likely to have multiple lighting options. Centralized lighting provides an easy way to control every light—inside or outside—from a single interface.

Why Choose Us

We at Vanguard are experts on all elements of home technology, including; Security Systems, Custom Home Theatres, Home Networks, Whole Home Audio, or a fully Automated Home (lighting, shades, climate etc.) We frequently have the honour of spending time with new home owners. Providing our expertise to help them envision and plan what technology fits best in their homes and with their lifestyles.

In taking this approach over the years, we been able to work in homes, after being roughed in by other companies or electricians, and found that they had not been properly planned or sufficiently wired. This can lead to costly work arounds, or simply not being able to give the customer what they truly want.

When it comes to low voltage wiring, it is important to have a well thought out plan. A plan that can accommodate various different technology configurations, and be future proofed, so the new homeowner wont have to live with outdated technology

Below is a few key reasons to choose us

FAQ

Why not have my electrician do it

This is the most common question we get asked. Even though an electrician is technically capable of wiring low voltage, it isn't recommended. In our experience we find most electricians only wire the bare minimum. Or in other situations, they don’t properly plan/design their layout and the new homeowner must purchase costly equipment, or potentially pay to have wires re ran.

Should I run wire for audio

Yes. The cost for wiring speakers throughout the house is very affordable, and is a great selling feature to the home. As technology is becoming more available and voice control is becoming more popular, more and more people are wanting the options to start playing music in any room. We have even found houses with multizone systems sell faster than those without.

Do I need to install products now or can the home owner do it later

This is a common misconception. In our initial planning phase, we can wire a home with a more universal design. This way, you can leave it up to the customer to purchase whatever equipment they feel necessary, but they wont need to pay the costly bill of wireless equipment.

Do you plan for home automation

There are multiple ways to incorporate home automation into a home. Most elements of automation are incorporated into the equipment purchased. The main thing to consider for automation, is wiring for a main controller that will allow for control via app or through a keypad. Either option requires little wiring, and the costs are usually marginal.

Do you only work in Calgary

No, we offer our services to anyone in the Calgary area. We often will send our wiring crews to Okotoks, Cochrane, Airdrie, Chestermere and all other surrounding areas.

How fast is your turn around time

We can usually have a single house wired in a day. For the more complex setups it could take up to 3 days at most.

Can you do custom wiring

Even though we have standard wiring packages, we specialize in planning and developing custom designs. Our preferred approach is to meet with the home owner and work with them to develop a plan that will perfectly incorporate their needs and wants.
